Stable and Reliable Grain Trade: Iran’s Strategy Amid Regional Changes

Seyed Mohammadreza Mortezavi, Chairman of the IranGrain Conference

At the IranGrain Conference, Seyed Mohammadreza Mortezavi, Chairman of the event and head of the Iran Flour Millers Association, stated that the current situation in Iran and the world is far from normal. He noted that the global landscape is undergoing unpredictable transformations, led by decision-makers whose actions are equally uncertain.

Over the past six months, regional developments have not only reshaped the Middle East’s geopolitical balance but have also had a direct impact on grain trade and food security.

“In such conditions,” Mortezavi said, “our profession as food and grain suppliers carries double responsibility. We are the guardians of a stable and reliable grain trade that ensures the nation’s food security, and it is crucial that this trade flow remains continuous under any circumstance.”

He emphasized that understanding one another’s capacities, sharing accurate data, and exchanging insights are vital for effective decision-making. The IranGrain Conference serves as a platform for grain supply chain stakeholders—from producers and importers to distributors—to collaborate, discuss challenges, and propose practical and innovative solutions for navigating this critical juncture.

Highlighting Iran’s reputation as one of the region’s most reliable markets for essential commodities, Mortezavi added that no partner has ever suffered losses or unpaid transactions when trading with Iran. “This credibility,” he noted, “is our greatest asset for overcoming today’s challenges.”

He concluded by stressing the need for knowledge-based cooperation, transparent dialogue, and innovative approaches in managing the grain supply chain. “Our mission,” he said, “is to guarantee the food security of Iran through sustainable and trustworthy trade practices built on collective participation and factual decision-making.
