The guaranteed wheat purchase budget is approved at 508 trillion Tomans

A review of the 2025 budget table shows that one of the most important cost sectors of the country, namely the guaranteed purchase of domestic wheat and the provision of foreign exchange required for imports, has seen a significant increase.

While the government’s initial bill had foreseen 299 trillion Tomans for this purpose, the parliamentarians increased the credit for this sector to 508 trillion Tomans with the aim of supporting farmers and meeting the needs of the bakeries. This increase includes the purchase of about 10.2 million tons of wheat from the 11 million tons production next year.

Stabilizing the bread subsidy is also another important point of the 2026 budget. The government’s initial bill had envisaged a figure of 290 trillion tomans for direct payment of bread subsidies to final consumers, and the consolidation commission and the parliament approved this figure without change. This measure shows that there will be no new pressure on household tables in this regard and consumer protection has been maintained.
