Stable Pasta Production during Crisis; Industry Awaits Government Decision on Wheat Pricing

Iran’s pasta industry has continued uninterrupted production despite economic volatility and regional instability, with no reported shortages in the domestic market.

 

All production units remained active during the crisis period, ensuring stable supply of pasta as a key staple in household food baskets.

The main challenge facing the industry is uncertainty over wheat pricing, which significantly affects production costs due to wheat’s dominant share in total expenses. Rising costs of other inputs and packaging have further increased pressure on manufacturers.

Part of the increased costs has been passed on to retail prices, resulting in price adjustments, although further changes in wheat pricing could lead to additional fluctuations.

At a broader level, the industry calls for clearer pricing policies, subsidy system reform, and revisions to tax and export regulations to ensure market stability and competitiveness.
