Barley Import Halt Threatens Livestock Feed Supply
Mr. Afshin Sadr Dadras, CEO of the Central Union of Light Livestock of Iran

The barley supply crisis in the country’s livestock input market has entered a serious stage. This product has not been supplied in sufficient quantities in the market system for more than three months, and if this situation continues, rural and nomadic livestock will face a serious threat of feed shortages and serious damage.
Orders for imported barley have completely stopped in the first quarter of this year, even though the country has been facing a widespread drought this year and the need for emergency imports of this essential input has been clearly evident. However, uncoordinated decision-making and managerial indiscretion have led to a halt in the import process.
