According to Liliya Kogushova, current director of the Astrakhan branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “TsOK AIC,” Iran is one of the main partners of Astrakhan province in trade, transportation, and logistics. Over 90% of goods transported through Astrakhan’s waterways are sent to Iran. These goods include agricultural products, cement, timber, metals, and chemical products.

In 2024, grain shipments through Astrakhan ports reached 3.97 million tons, reflecting a 24.3% increase compared to 2023.

Iran has demand for animal feed and nutritional supplements.

These prospects are strengthened by logistics infrastructure development within the “International North-South Transport Corridor,” reciprocal payments using national currencies, and joint production projects established in Iran.
