18.5 Million Tons of Cargo Handled; Imam Khomeini Port Strengthens Its Role as Iran’s Grain Hub

Imam Khomeini Port has handled 18.5 million tons of cargo, marking a 22% year-on-year increase and strengthening its position as one of Iran’s key logistics and essential goods hubs.
The port manages around 70% of Iran’s imports of essential commodities, including grains, animal feed, and crude edible oils, playing a vital role in supply chain stability and national food security.
The port’s operations have continued uninterrupted even during crisis conditions, with more than 2.2 million tons of essential goods cleared during a 40-day disruption period and distributed across the country.
At the same time, major expansion projects are underway, including mechanized grain terminals expected to add 12 million tons of operational capacity. With 4.3 million tons of storage capacity and ongoing infrastructure investments, the port is evolving into one of the region’s leading grain trade hubs in the Middle East.
