12% Rise in Essential Goods Handling at Ports
Mohammad Shakibinasab, Deputy for Port and Economic Affairs at the Ports and Maritime Organization

He reported a 12% increase in the unloading of essential goods at Iranian ports. From the beginning of the year until January 17, a total of 173 million tons of goods were handled at ports, of which 21 million tons were essential commodities. Current port and warehouse stocks of essential goods total 6.4 million tons, including 3.6 million tons in port warehouses.
Shakibinasab highlighted a record in the dispatch of essential goods, with 42 trucks and 176 rail wagons leaving ports in a single day. He clarified that the Ports Organization is responsible only for receiving, unloading, and shipping goods, while distribution to the market falls under other agencies. Regarding edible oil, nearly 240,000 tons are available in ports, ensuring supply stability. He emphasized that coordinated efforts among government agencies are crucial to maintain efficient unloading and distribution, ensuring essential goods reach consumers without disruption.
