The amount of wheat that has been purchased

Morteza Saadatikia, Head of the wheat local purchase office:

  • Peter Becker, President of UIB answering a question regarding the sanctions and the participation of Iranians in iba: So far, I have not heard about any restrictions for Iranians. In the last iba show we did not have any problems and we hope that the same happens for the next show in 2021 in Munich. With the request of Mr. Karami from the bread union of Iran, I am going to have some talks with my colleagues at iba for a connection between IBEX and iba for the coming years. The final decision regarding this would be made by the board and GHM which is the organizer of iba.
  • Allahyar Valizadeh, Head of the Livestock Industry Union of Iran: Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has increased the price of the wheat bran in order to be able to keep the price of bread the same, however, by doing this, they have added to the problems for the feed. With the increase in price of bran to 12,500 IRR per kilogram, the farmers prefer to use bread for the feed instead of the bran. This way, around 2 million tons of wheat would be fed to the livestock.
  • Mojtaba Nezam Abadi, CEO of Fajr Tablo Markazi: The European countries are using the energy of the sun to produce electricity. Regarding the location of Iran in a place where there is abundant sun energy, more companies should use it to provide electricity for their operations. Fortunately, the government has been a good supporter in this issue.
  • Reza Eftekharodin, Member of the Board in the Feed Union: The flour mills have increased the price of the wheat bran from 7500 to 8200 and now to 12500 IRR per kilogram which is too much and it is just a way for the mills to make more money.
  • Ali Ebrahimi, Spokesperson of the Agriculture Commission in the Iranian Parliament: The purchase price for buying wheat from the farmers has been set at 22000 IRR per kilogram. This price should have been announced by September 22 2018, has been announced much later and with an illogical price.
  • Morteza Saadatikia, Head of the wheat local purchase office: The amount of wheat that has been purchased from the farmers until the end of the current marketing year has been 7,715,000 tons which is 18 percent lower than the 9,458,000 tons of last year.
  • Javad Ghoochi, CEO of Ilam Flour: the insistence of Iran’s government of the self-sufficiency of wheat is wasting the resources here while we could easily get the needed wheat from other countries. Iran produces about 7 to 8 million of good quality wheat and the rest should be bought from other countries.
