Iranian Ports Lag in Transit Game Due to Governance Fragmentation
Mr. Mohsen Sadeghifar, Secretary of the Iranian Ports Association

Compared to regional countries, Iran currently plays a follower role rather than a leader, although it has a higher position than many of its competitors in terms of potential capacity. In terms of infrastructure and port capacity, especially in Shahid Rajaee Port, Iran is competitive in terms of channel depth, backwater width, and berthing capacity.
However, the UAE has established its operational superiority with higher operational efficiency, lower risk of downtime, and use of advanced technologies.
Meanwhile, Oman and Qatar have also gradually reduced Iran’s share of the regional market by adopting a hub strategy and offering attractive tariffs.
Iran’s geographical advantage in connecting to the markets of Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey and even Russia is real, but in practice this advantage is neutralized by customs, internal transportation, administrative bureaucracy and fragmented decision-making. The choice of a port for ships is not based solely on geographical coordinates, but rather on the time it takes for the goods to reach their final destination. When a route through the UAE ports takes five days and the same route through Iran takes ten days due to operational delays, the theoretical advantage is practically nullified.
Technology selection; the beating heart of a modern/smooth milling unit; specialized manufacturer of flour line machinery
Selis Company, as one of the reputable and specialized manufacturers of complete flour and milling line machinery, operates in Eskişehir, Turkey. This company has achieved a prominent position in the milling industry by relying on up-to-date technical knowledge, new technologies, and compliance with international standards.
One of the notable honors of the Selis Company is that within Turkey, despite equipping many flour factories with European lines, a significant number of production units supply their milling machinery from this company to increase capacity and launch second production lines; an issue that demonstrates the trust of artisans in the technical capability and quality of this brand’s products.
