Iran-Kazakhstan Chamber suggestion
Abedi, Head of Iran-Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce:

- Ali Bahrehmand, Head of Confectioner’s Association of Tehran: The increasing inflammation and the prices of the ingredients such as flour and sugar has made confectioners to reduce their production. The price of the ingredients are rising day by day, however, the price of the finished products is still the same, we are trying to increase the price with the help of the association and the government.
- Selling the wheat bran in the market has increased the price of it and also encourages intermediaries to increase the price of the black market higher than what is being sold at the official market. The government wanted to get the bran as feed with a reasonable price to the breeders while in reality this is not happening. Selling the bran in the market has cut the income of the flour mills by 50%.
- Morteza Saadatikia, Head of Local Purchase in GTC: At the moment, purchasing the wheat from the farmers in 10 provinces including Ilam, Bushehr, South Khorasan, Khoozestan, Sistan and Baluchistan, Hormozgan, Fars, Kerman, Kermanshah and Kohgilooyeh and Boyerahmad is being processed. As of late May, more than 1 million and 750 thousand MT of wheat worth of 3000 billion Tomans have been purchased by GTC.
- Abedi, Head of Iran-Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce: Iran-Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce has suggested to open an office in Almaty in order to facilitate trade, logistics and financial transactions for the businesspeople of both countries.
- Sharif Nezam Mafi, Head of Iran-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce: Exemption of Chabahar Port from the US sanctions is only considered for the Indian companies at the moment. The sanctions against Iran are still ongoing and the Chabahar port has been exempted for the Indian companies in order for them to be able to continue their trade with Afghanistan.
- AfroFood 2019 is going to dedicate a section to the startups that are working in the industries related to the ones participating in this fair. This section is going to be called, AgroFood Stars.
- Ghodrat Abadi, Expert in Banking and Foreign Currencies: According to the data from Central Bank of Iran, the IRR worth in 2016 was 500 times less than what it used to be in 1976. This shows the downfall trend of the IRR in the past 40 years.
- Abbas Papizadeh, Member of the Agriculture Commission in Iran’s Parliament: Regarding the amount of planted wheat and the appropriate rainfall, the shortages for the wheat would be resolved and we do not need to import wheat for the current year.
