- During 2017-2018, Khoosheh Fars Flour has exported around 48,000 tons of flour and wheat to Iraq and Oman. These shipments brough more than 11 million USD to Iran. Qatar is very close to Iran and because of the Saudi Arabia’s sanctions, Qatar is willing to import flour and wheat from Iran. Khoosheh Fars is sending 4000 tons of flour every Month to Qatar. Khoosheh Fars produces more than 38 different types of flour which are sent to Qatar and are used in different sections of the bakery industry in this country.
- Guinea has got more than 2.6 million hectares of arable land from which only 2 million hectares are harvested. The country is home to many rivers and in some parts of it the rainfall is more than 5 meters. Iran has decided to use the lands for growing grains for feed.
- Abdollah Ahangari, CEO of Bookan Company: The machinery industry in Iran is facing price fluctuations and low sales. There are also some producers which do not have any work permits and are producing low quality machines which are sold in the local market.
- Mehdi Jafarian Amiri, Buhler’s representative in Northern provinces of Iran: The lack of enough rice about 2 years ago which was around 600,000 tons was the start for the rising amount of imported rice. There are various reasons for the low production of rice in Iran such as not having enough water and transforming rive fields into buildings. A huge amount of rice is wasted on the way to processing plants and because of old machinery, that is why the government is importing more rice every year. With improving the machinery, the rice production would increase by 18%.
- Farzin Karimloo, CEO of Jahan Pasta: The exchange rate for foreign currencies is very important at the first stages of equipping the pasta factories in Iran. All the pasta producing and the packaging machinery are imported from other countries, specially Italy. Therefore, they should be paid in Euro. Apart from that, the plants that have already been working are going to face problems in terms of buying spare parts.
- Mosslem Moghaddar, Head of Khoozestan district of Nazm Afarinan Sanat Sahand: Terminal 4 of Imam Khomeini Port is one of the projects of our company. The investment for this project is estimated to be 150 billion Tomans. 40 percent of the project is done up to now.
- Soheil Shahbazloo, Brand Identity Expert: Unfortunately, in Iran, almost no attention is paid to agricultural start-ups while agriculture is one of the pillars of economy. Successful countries in terms of agriculture has deleted the middlemen and started sourcing the products from the farm directly to the market. However, in Iran, most of the money in the agriculture sector belongs to middlemen not the farmers.
- According to Fars News, Iran is going to export wheat to Indonesia. Iran has exported 276000 tons of wheat to Indonesia and is going to export more in the near future. Australia, Canada, Ukraine and US are the main wheat exporters to Indonesia.
- Behzad Gharreh Yazi: Iran is capable of producing GMO products, however, we are not using this potential and are importing most of the things that we need. Soy, corn, cotton and rapeseed are all among GMO products that are imported to Iran while we can produce them.
- Alireza Ranjbar, CEO of Hamedan’s GTC: Regarding the fact that buying wheat from farmers happens in the summer, therefore, there is more wheat carried to other provinces. That is why, we have shipped more than 30,000 tons of wheat every month, during the second half of the year.
- Paniz Panahi, Head of Quality Control in Biglari Flour: Durum wheat is one of the hardest types of wheat and we need different roller mills for milling it. In Kermanshah province, there are no such machinery and the durum is not milled there.
- Jamshid Maghazeyi, Head of Confectionary Association of Iran: In the last 10 months, we have exported goods to 66 countries around the world. The value of the exported goods accounted to 500 million dollars which is not what we expected. We hope to double that amount in the next year.
- Fouzhan Rahbaran Ati invites everyone working in the bakery industry to attend iba 2018. At the beginning of March, there was a meeting for introducing iba 2018 to Iranians. Michael Wippler, president of German Bakers’ Confederation, Daniel Schneider, secretary general at German Bakers’ Confederation, Mohammad Javad Karami, Head of Iran’s Bread Union were among the guests.
- 17th conference of Protecting the Rights of Consumers was held in Iran. Ard Daran Flour and Zar flour were among the companies which have been appreciated.
- Feshangchi, Head of Azarbaijan Sharghi’s Millers’ Guild: We could have acted better in buying wheat during the last year which could result in better quality flour. In Iran, more than 40% of the wheat has low gluten and protein (less than 10), therefore, we need to mix it with a higher quality variety.
