- Ahmad Sadeghian, CEO of Tak Makaron: In order to bridge the gap between the producers and the consumers, the government should not include the money that it pays for farmers’ support, in the final price of wheat sold to the market. The wheat price should be the same for all the industry sectors and it should be set according to the world prices. In the past, the price of wheat was cheaper than the international prices; however, today it is 80 percent more expensive.
- CEO of Alborz Milling: because of somehow adequate rainfall in winter, there will be enough wheat in the country and the ban on importing wheat will continue; however, the quality of Iran’s wheat is not good enough and we will encounter quality fall in flour in the next year again.
- Dr Ghanbari CEO of GTC: At the time that the 11th cabinet started working, there were many problems regarding the agriculture sector in Iran. The strategic stocks were at the lowest point and the Supreme Leader ordered to focus on agriculture. With the right management, now after 4 years, we have more than 8 million tons of wheat in our stocks while entering the next year.
- In the Conference on Supporting the Consumers’ Right, Iran’s Trade Minister pointed out that in 1395, the exports increased by 9 percent from the value point of view. He hoped that with the increase in producing quality products, we will see more exports to Iranian goods. In this conference, Ard Daran was the only flour mill which was appreciated for its supportive role in consumers’ right.
- Golha’s Head of Directors’ Board: Although Golha is one of the biggest salt distributors in Iran, we are trying to inform our consumers of the vast disadvantages of using salt. The standard salt usage for an adult is 3 to 5 grams a day; however, Iranians use more than 13 grams a day which is way too much and dangerous.
- Head of Iran’s Industrial Bread Union: Since the industrial bread is a new concept in Iran and not many people are interested in consuming it, we need the government’s support in order to continue our path. In the competition with the traditional bread, the industrial bread needs subsidized flour to be able to grow in Iran’s market.
- Dr Karimloo, Noodle producer: According to Nestle’s survey in Iran, the average consumption of noodle in Iran is 38 grams for each person. The average yearly consumption in the world in total is 14/5 million tons which is very different from what we consume in Iran. Iran’s noodle market is growing slowly but not at the pace of other countries.
- There are 14 subcategories to GTC in Iran in 14 different regions which cover the whole country. These companies are working in the public sector; however, recently two of these companies have been sold to the private sector and it seems that all the 14 companies would be handed over to the private sector in near future. There are diverse ideas about this and some cabinet members are against it noting that it will affect the relationship between people and the government.
- Dr Sadeghian CEO of Ard Daran: It is good news that Iran is becoming self-sufficient in wheat; however, by growing wheat we are losing our water resources and endangering the agriculture sector in future. Regarding the water shortage in Iran in near future, it is important not to lose the water we have today.
