Azem Group’s Role in Strengthening Edible Oil Reserves and Food Security
Emad Naghavi, CEO of Emad Naghavi, Azem Group

Azem Group and its subsidiaries, including Goldineh, Golshahd, Shahdineh, Shahdaroo, and Shahdaneh, are key players in Iran’s edible oil supply chain. Goldineh produces pure corn oil and a variety of blended and frying oils using advanced technologies, diversifying the country’s oil sources.
This, combined with continuous production and strategic stockpiling, has helped secure food supply during emergencies such as the recent 12-day war in Isfahan Province.
Edible oils are vital for national food security due to their nutritional value and Iran’s dependence on imported raw materials like soybeans and sunflower seeds. Disruptions in supply or distribution during crises can cause public unrest and economic instability. Domestic producers like Azem Group play a crucial role by managing reserves, improving storage infrastructure, and maintaining production despite political and economic challenges, relying on advanced technology and government cooperation.
Sustaining the industry during crises depends on uninterrupted access to foreign currency for imports, faster customs clearance, and decentralizing storage through regional hubs. Currently, 90% of edible oil is imported, making timely currency allocation critical. Although reserves exist, they are fragile and need infrastructure upgrades. Goldineh can double its refining capacity within a year and is ready to respond in emergencies. The group’s subsidiaries also supply raw materials and by-products, enhancing their ability to support food security. Developing processing units in key provinces could provide strategic backups in future crises.
Azem Group calls for stable currency policies, transparent customs, reduced bureaucracy, and streamlined logistics, including a single window system for edible oil affairs.
Led by CEO, Emad Naghavi, Azem Group is committed to sustaining Iran’s edible oil supply through innovation, infrastructure development, and government collaboration, playing a vital role in national food security and passive defense during crises.
