Key Role of Pasta Manufacturers in Ensuring Food Security During Crises
Rasoul Mojdeh Shafagh, The spokesperson for the Iranian Pasta Manufacturers Association

The spokesperson for the Iranian Pasta Manufacturers Association emphasized the crucial role of the pasta industry in maintaining food security during emergencies like the 12-day Iran-Iraq war and recent crises. Due to pasta’s long shelf life, nutritional value, and affordability, producers ensured stable supply and froze prices despite rising costs to support households in difficult times.
Challenges such as unstable electricity supply continue to affect production, and recent government policies on wheat pricing have impacted manufacturers’ incentives. Despite proposed higher price increases, a 42% price rise for pasta was approved to balance production sustainability with consumer affordability.
