A deficit of one million tons of sugar; where is the market headed?

Since the beginning of the year, less than 500 thousand tons of sugar have been imported into the country, while the country’s annual need is estimated at about one million tons; of course, this figure depends on the amount of domestic production.

Domestic production is estimated to be around 1.6 million tons this year. However, a shortage of around 1 million tons is expected, which will manifest itself in the first half of the year.
