At least 1.4 million tons of rice imports needed amid currency delays
Mr. Majidreza Khaki, Secretary of the Iranian Rice Importers Association

Importing at least 1.4 million tons of rice to cover the demand deficit in Iran is inevitable. From the beginning of the year to the end of August, about 550,000 tons of white rice have been cleared, and about 100,000 more are being cleared. Therefore, the downward trend in prices is expected to continue as the Iranian rice harvest season begins.
Pakistani rice prices have increased in recent months, and the gap between the official and actual prices has made it less economical to import the product. He stressed that policy reforms in this sector are necessary to prevent disruptions in supply.
