It’s time to stop the preferential currency for the import of chemical fertilizers and pesticides!

Ms. Kazemi, the Commercial Manager of Kala Tak Company, Raised the Question

Poisons, chemical fertilizers and agricultural inputs are in the 21st commodity group, which are given preferential currency. But for several months, the government has refused to allocate the currency for these items on the pretect of currency shortage, while Iran’s block currencies have been released in some countries, and instead of importing these currencies into the country or using them for imports, the government has spent the released currencies on Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, we are not facing a shortage of currency, but the bad policies of the central bank that have annoyed the traders.

Importers must pay a 4% dollar fee for importing chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which increases the final price of the goods due to the payment of these fees. But the government and the Consumers and Producers Protection Organization do not pay attention to these payments at the time of product pricing and fine the importer for overcharging.

On the other hand, we are currently facing problems in money transfer. For example, the number of agencies that used to transfer money from Dubai, the UAE, and Turkey to foreign companies has decreased, and due to existing restrictions, Iranian businessmen have to pay three times the fee for transferring money, which is both costly and time-consuming.
