- Nezam Mafi, CEO of Buhler Iran: Iran-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce held a meeting in Tehran to analyze the Obor project regarding the new Silk Road. In this meeting, different representatives from various companies and some Chinese officials met together. Right now, the Silk Road project is active in Iran and it is because of this project that a train can travel from China to Iran in only 14 days, whereas this would take 45 days if it would have been done using the sea. In this situation, we can say that Iran’s industry will flourish more than before.
- CEO of Kobodena: Kobodena is a knowledge-based company which has launched its bread producing plant about a year ago. This company has been working in flour producing sector in the past 20 years. Kobodena has recently produced chestnut bread which is considered a huge achievement.
- Akbari, member of Agriculture Committee in Islamic Parliament of Iran: The cultivated are under wheat production has been reduced to 2.2 million hectares and it is going to continue and reach 1.9. However, this reduction does not mean less water use because there are some farmers hat may grow some crops which use even more water in these empty fields. Water management has to be done according to the latest standards and using the modern technologies for the infrastructures.
- Mohammad Lahooti the head of Iran’s Export Confederation: there are various factors that are important regarding foreign investment in Iran. At the moment, Iran’s ease of doing business index is 120 which is not enough for foreign investment. The risk factor is at 7 or 6 which is too high and it should be reduced to 3. There are other problems such as working regulations, the insurance issues and many other ones that need to be addressed by the government.
- Yoosefi, CEO of Sistan Baloochestan’s GTC: Regarding the fact that the transit of wheat from India to Afghanistan will be done in through Chabahar Port in Iran, the wheat will be milled in Sistan Baloochestan province in Iran and then will be sent to Afghanistan. There are not enough wheat mills in Afghanistan to mill the wheat and therefore, Iran is a better option for doing so.
- Hamzehloo, one of the export experts in GTC: because of the reduction in durum production in US and Canada, it is believed that the durum carryover is less than the previous years in the world. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for Iran to sell its durum in the market. There are more buyers for Iran’s durum these days and recently an international Italian company has purchased 31500 tons.
- Mojde Shafagh, Mac Pasta’s deputy of commerce: Iran’s Government has opened Iran Mercantile Exchange a few years ago to help some commodities such as wheat to be exchanged easily. A real mercantile exchange would be one without any interfere in which local or foreign commodities would be offered. In Iran mercantile exchange there are few sellers that half of which are government-related companies. The lack of variety in this exchange has led to almost no competition for the companies and the buyers do not have different choices to choose from.
- Iraq is facing numerous problems in meeting the needs regarding flour and bread. Iranian millers have been trying to get a share of Iraq’s market by exporting flour to this country; however, it is obvious that Turkish millers are more successful. Turkey has more stable laws and regulations or exports while Iran does not have such stability in regulations. Iraqi businesspersons buy Turkish flour without paying cash while doing the same in business with Iran is not possible.
- Izadi, Vitana Biscuit’s R&D manager: Using palm oil is considered something very bad these days and it seems that in Iran’s society this is mostly because of the media. Today, palm oil is used in different industries such as making biscuits and chocolate and many famous brands use it in their products. If this oil does not undergo very high temperature, it will not change to trans fats and will not leave residue in the body. In making biscuits, the oil is not heated that much and it is safe to use palm oil. The rate of oxidation for palm oil is less than other types of oil.
- Sixteenth Iran International Confectionary Fair was held in Tehran. This confectionary fair is the biggest in Asia. Iranian products have the export potential of 1.5 billion dollars a year; however, Iran is only using 600 million dollars of this potential. Some of the problems are lack of logistics infrastructure, lack of incentives from the government and too much imports from other countries. Australia, Canada, The US, Europe and many other countries are destinations for Iranian chocolate.
- Golnan Puratos held a conference on August 30 in which many guests from different sectors of confectionary and bread have participated. According to some data, the bread consumption in Iran has decreased from 2013 to 2017 and it will continue to decrease to 2020. During these years, people have consumed more industrial bread and less traditional bread.
- Kordestan province is one of the regions in Iran which grow wheat in a greater amount than other provinces. The wheat carryover in this province depends mostly on the weather. Kordestan produces more than 700 thousand tons of wheat per year.
- Taghavi CEO of Nano Fanavar Khavar: one of the most important factors regarding filters in milling systems is the size of the holes on filters. If we can make the holes smaller and at the same time reduce the pressure, we will have a better functioning filter for taking tiny particles.
