Iran’s Flour Export Potential and Government Policy Challenges in Grain Trade

Engineer Heydari, CEO of Parsian Saei Grain Company

The advanced technology of flour mills in Iran and the empty capacity of these mills are among the country’s export potentials. In a way that compared to other countries such as Russia, we have higher capacity and technology, and since the neighboring countries are also weak in terms of infrastructure such as electricity and energy, we can export flour to these countries. On the other hand, considering Iran’s geopolitical position and the sea route between Russia and Kazakhstan with Iran, we can take advantage of this opportunity to produce high-quality flour and transit it to neighboring countries through Iran.

He said: Although Russia has high-quality wheat, due to the weakness of the laboratory infrastructure in the flour mills of this country and their weak flour-making technology, they face challenges in producing high-quality flour. Therefore, Iran’s geographical location and access to open waters, advanced technology of flour mills and their empty capacity can lead to Iran’s strong activity in the field of exports. Also, due to sanctions, Russia can use Iran’s sea route to bypass sanctions.
