Global Warming Giant; a fierce opponent for the food security of countries

Mr. Mehrshad Maleki, an Activist in the Field of Grain

According to researchers, the most important challenge of the 21st century is lack of food and malnutrition, because every degree of increase in global temperature as a result of climate change can lead to a 6% decrease in wheat production and a 10% decrease in rice production. On the other hand, in the last few years due to global warming and climate changes, the rainfall systems have not been able to strengthen and rain, and this condition prevails in all parts of Central Asia and the Middle East.

About 9 million hectares of Iran’s lands are under grain cultivation, of which more than half is cultivated by rainfed method. In fact, the majority of the country’s grain production is based on the amount of rainfall in the country, which due to the unprecedented heat of the summer of 2024 and the decrease in the amount of rainfall compared to the same period of the previous years, there is a possibility of a decrease in the volume of production in this sector.
