The country benefits from decades of government subsidies that have helped build a strong infrastructure in poultry farming.<\/p>\n<p>With an <strong>annual per capita egg consumption<\/strong> of around <strong>235 eggs<\/strong>, there is still room to grow domestically. Eggs remain <strong>Iran\u2019s most affordable source of protein<\/strong>, making them essential in the national diet. The country not only meets internal demand but also <strong>exports surplus production<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Masoumi emphasized that <strong>egg quality is directly linked to poultry nutrition<\/strong>, especially in terms of yolk color, taste, shell strength, and freshness. The industry depends heavily on imported inputs such as <strong>corn, soybeans, amino acids, vitamins, and vaccines<\/strong>. Any disruption in imports could reduce feed quality and, in turn, egg quality.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Iran having over <strong>1,500 active layer farms<\/strong>, most operate below 10% of optimal capacity.
