The development of the rail fleet is the missing link in Iran’s grain logistics chain
Ms. Shaaf Moloukpour, Executive Director of Astara Grain Terminal Group

She stated: Currently, railway terminals are missing links in the logistics chain of our country. In fact, we have helped to optimize the logistics system of the country by building and developing more railway terminals. Unfortunately, we are deprived of rail transport capacities in the ports, and in the second six months of the year, there are many problems in the northern ports due to the ice in the Volga channel. Astara grain terminal has provided a platform for traders to use this terminal in all seasons of the year.
She stated: Most of the imported goods in the north and south corridor of the country are transported by road, and this is if we can use the rail capacity, we can reduce the cost of goods. In our country, 90% of imported grain is transported by road and only 10% of it is transported by rail system, while in Europe, on average, 78.5% of their internal transportation is done by wagon.
