The Need for Transparency in Foreign Currency Allocation to Overcome

Challenges in Importing Livestock Inputs in Iran

Mr. Hesamoddin Mollasalehi, CEO of Hermes Tejarat Afaq Qeshm Company, one of the merchants active in the field of grain trade, said: One of the basic challenges faced by traders in the field of importing livestock inputs is the lack of transparency in the information related to the registration of orders made on a daily and weekly basis. This issue is especially noticeable due to the implementation of the transparency law of the three forces, which emphasizes transparency and free access to information. Failure to provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding the registration of previous orders, the amount of imports and the status of foreign currency allocation, makes businessmen face serious problems in planning for future imports.

He added: Also, the lack of transparency in the process of order registration and prioritization can lead to rent and abuse. Some importers may be in a better position than others with access to opaque information and special relationships, which destroys healthy competition and makes the business environment unhealthy and ministry of agriculture jihad can help there.

He said: In general, the biggest challenge is instability in policies and lack of coordination between different institutions. This instability greatly increases the risk of activity in the field of importing livestock inputs. In my opinion, many of these problems will be solved if the government can be more transparent in its policies and make the processes easier.
