
The representative noted: Compared to sunflower meal, soybean meal is used more in the Iranian market, and sunflower meal is not very common in this market. Although soybean meal is in a better position in terms of protein and energy, betaine, an essential amino acid, is much higher in sunflower meal and other feeds. In addition, sunflower meal has a price difference of about 30% with soybean meal. Currently, the sunflower meal market is estimated at 24 million tons, but we expect this trend to be positive in the future due to the increasing demand for high protein feeds.
She clarified: Our solution for the Iranian market is to replace a part of sunflower meal instead of completely replacing it, considering the physical and chemical properties of sunflower meal as well as its cost effects. Substituting 20% of soybean meal with sunflower meal has very good results and reduces the price up to 4 dollars per ton.
