60% of the costs of shipping goods by sea are allocated to fuel!
Mohammad Pakar, CEO of Pakar Shipping Company

He stated: One of the most important export challenges that shipping and maritime transport companies face is the supply and costs of fuel, which accounts for approximately 60 percent of the cost of a sea voyage. This also leads to an increase in the total costs of transporting and exporting goods. In order to solve this problem, for example, a vessel traveling from Iran to Oman, given that part of this journey takes place in Iranian waters, should be calculated at the domestic rate, not the entire route at the international rate, or according to a protocol, a subsidy should be allocated to part of this journey.
He noted: One of the problems and challenges of maritime transportation is the issue of warehousing costs, which at one point we faced an increase in tariffs by the Ports & Maritime Organization, but with the follow-up of the Shipping Association and other institutions, this issue was resolved. Other countries such as Turkey, whose geographical distance from the Persian Gulf countries is greater than Iran, have been able to capture a large part of our neighboring markets due to government support and subsidies in the field of transportation and warehousing costs. All over the world, governments play their supporting role in the field of exports by providing subsidies, but unfortunately, this does not happen in our country.
